MARINE SEISMIC NAVIGATION PROFESSIONAL

As you will see from my Curriculum vitae, I graduated from Napier University, Edinburgh in 1989 after which I worked as an electronic field engineer, and since then I have specialised firstly as a Navigator in the 3D marine seismic business and laterly as a Navigation Data Processor.

I would like to highlight the following skills which I believe would add value to your organisation:-

• Organisational skills - developed from responsible roles in the marine survey industry requiring logistical forward planning. Such responsibilities have included being a Senior Field Engineer, Senior Navigator, Senior Positioning Supervisor, Navigation Data Processor, Shift Leader and an acting Party Chief. I have also been involved in the logistics of a complete vesssel "rig up" from laying down the fundament, providing power from russian generators to equipment racks and interfacing instrument room and inwater equipment. I had to organise the russian crew whom did not speak very good english .

• Navigational skills - 2D seismic operation experience developed first with Master Seismic A.S on the Master Tor, Master Odin and finally the OGS Explora. With Fugro Geoteam on the Geo Arctic using Totalnav from I/O and StarSeis from Fugro.
  3D Seismic experience has been gained whilst using Spectra from Concept systems with Digital Exploration (now Veritas) on the Polar Search and Horizon Exploration on the Simon Labrador. Experience of setting up the Reflex binning system for new jobs and keeping it updated.
  4D experience has been gained as a freelance surveyor with PGS resevoir on both drag array and ocean bottom cable startup operations on a Vessel called the Jane Viking.

• Navigation Data Processing Skills - 4 years 3D navigation data processing using Sprint from Concept systems on both Unix and Linux workstations.

• Trouble Shooting skills - developed in my role as an electronic field engineer for Geodetic Surveys working with navigation and underwater equipment where my resourcefulness was rewarded with promotion on my first job. These skills have been implemented successfully with my experience as a marine seismic surveyor and navigation data processor especially with the extra hardware and software demands of 3D operations.

• Computer skills - A+ certification for hardware and operating systems covering Microsoft windows up to XP and also recently have become a Microsoft Certified Professional. Previous to that experience gained of Unix and Linux platforms with Solaris 2 and Redhat 8.0 with a dabble in Unix/Linux script writing to streamline extra assignments.

• Interpersonal skills - developed through working in a multinational team environment associated with marine surveys.
